ITIL Foundation (Version 5) provides you with the fundamental prerequisites for working with IT Service Management—and builds towards a more product-centric approach.

During the course, you will gain an understanding of the core concepts of the ITIL® (Version 5) framework and how it helps organizations design, deliver, and improve digital products and services end-to-end, with a stronger focus on measurable value creation, collaboration, and the responsible use of AI.

About ITIL® Foundation (Version 5) course

The course consists of two days of instruction in Danish, delivered by one of our experienced ITIL consultants and trainers.

The exam is taken online after the course using the voucher provided.

Course materials, the e-book, and certification are in English.

As a participant, you will receive the official ITIL® (Version 5) Foundation manual as an e-book, course materials including notes (PDF slide deck), a comprehensive reading guide to prepare for the course, ITIL® (Version 5) key concepts (PDF), and an overview poster.

Full catering is provided during the course days for all in-person courses.

Most IT organizations require an ITIL Foundation certification for many roles, so having this certification gives you an advantage when applying for jobs in the IT world—as well as an up-to-date understanding of ITIL in a digital and AI-enabled context.

Since 1988, when the first version of ITIL was published, several versions have been released. ITIL® (Version 5) is now being introduced gradually, with Foundation as the first module, launching on 12 February 2026.

ITIL 4 will remain available as part of a transition period at least until February 2027.

Exam & Certification

There are two sample papers.

The exam is taken after the course and is a voucher-based online exam. Using your voucher, you can schedule the exam at a time that suits you. The exam is an English multiple-choice exam with 40 questions. You have 60 minutes to complete the exam (+15 minutes if English is not your native language). A passing score of 65% is required.

Upon passing the exam, you will obtain the official ITIL® Foundation (Version 5) certification.

  1. Day 1

    The Foundation: Key Concepts, Relationships, and the Lifecycle

    We build the foundation for ITIL® (Version 5) with the most important concepts and definitions. You will understand the relationships between service, product, value, and collaboration—and we will connect this to the ITIL Product & Service Lifecycle.

    The day concludes with short exercises to reinforce the concepts, and preparation for Day 2 is discussed.

  2. Day 2

    ITIL Value System, value streams and AI governance

    We bring everything together with the ITIL® Value System, value chain, practices, and continual improvement. You will learn to think in terms of value streams and see how AI and governance come into play at the Foundation level.

    Finally, we practice the exam format with sample questions and focus on common pitfalls.
