The Challenge of Egypt (Agile) – Traditional or Agile Project Management

The Challenge of Egypt (Agile) takes place in 1 day and is perfect as part of a team building day.

The ancient Egyptians created enormous structures in an astonishingly short time. They couldn't do that without project management. During this interactive workshop, participants will encounter the most important aspects of project management best practices with the building of Cheops' pyramid. All participants have a role in the project, and the construction process is influenced by incidents from the real construction project.

The game can be played in two variants – traditionally with a waterfall model or in an agile version. Both based on the PRINCE2 framework.

The simulation game

The Challenge of Egypt takes place in one day, and is perfect as part of a team building event with a focus on managing projects using the PRINCE2 method. A pyramid must be built, and it can only go too slowly. Building is done with Lego bricks, and there are ongoing changes to the specification as well as other problems that the project managers and participants must be able to handle. In order to reach the goal safely and in the best way, PRINCE2 methods and models must be unfolded and used in practice.

Profit:

After completing the workshop, participants will:

  • Know how to apply best practices for project management, and have learned the essence of PRINCE2
  • Be able to create a project organization with associated roles and responsibilities
  • Know how to ensure that the business case is realised
  • Know how to stay customer focused and set the right priorities based on customer requirements

The simulation is typically aimed at project managers or employees, project coordinators or steering group members or others who are connected to projects.
