Agile methods have become crucial to success
Companies are experiencing a need for increasing adaptability, innovation ability and the ability to involve customers in business development. The agile methods and agile leadership are a solid lever to meet these requirements.
The agile form of project management and development has proven to be an efficient work process, and agile companies, projects and teams are now found in a wide range of industries.
The agile methods are based on the agile manifesto. The manifesto itself does not provide an approach to how to do it in practice. However, there are a number of methods that offer an idea of how to put the agile manifesto's philosophy into practice. Here you can e.g. mention Scrum, Lean and Kanban.
The agile manifesto is not a method, but rather a philosophy that tries to do away with the rigid, locked-in methodologies one previously experienced in software development. The manifesto, whose relevance extends far beyond software development, reads as follows:
We uncover better ways to develop software
by doing so and by helping others to do so. Through this work, we have learned to appreciate
- Individuals and collaboration rather than processes and tools
- Well-functioning software rather than comprehensive documentation
- Cooperation with the customer rather than contract negotiation
- Managing change rather than maintaining a plan
